1. Why choose an independent Speech and Language Therapist?
Independent SLTs and NHS SLTs have the same training. Unfortunately sometimes NHS services have long waiting lists, or may not be able to work as flexibly or frequently as you would like. Independent therapists can usually see your child more quickly and can offer more frequent appointments if needed. Your child can access independent SLT at the same time as NHS therapy. It is in your child’s best interest to ensure that both therapists liaise with each other. This ensures that we are all working towards the same targets and will allow your child to be better supported.
2. Where will my child be seen?
Your child will be seen in their own home.
3. How often will my child be seen?
This will be discussed with you and will depend on your child’s needs. We will not provide therapy sessions if they are not clinically indicated. We will sometimes recommend weekly or fortnightly direct therapy sessions alongside home practise, or less frequent reviews. There is no obligation to continue with regular sessions and you can stop therapy at any time if you wish.
